Three Featured Artists for April

We're going to spring in to April with a big showing from three guest artists. There will be beautiful art, gorgeous jewelry, and fine woodwork, all handmade right here in Juneau! Here's the low down on our artists:

Robert FletcherRobert Fletcher is an expert wood worker and will be showing a collection of his latest work. Robert originally focused on turned wood bowls, and those are stunning. Recently, he's branched out into other items as well including spice mills, mirrors, and cutting boards. Robert's work uses primarily locally sourced wood, and whenever possible he uses reclaimed wood from trees that were felled for other reasons.

Mandy HeckMandy Heck is an artist working in the miniature. Her small drawings capture local wildlife in portrait style, and many of them aim to convey an expression or feeling as well. Mandy's originals are archive-quality colored pencil and each takes her several hours to complete in exquisite detail. The smaller sizes are perfect for collecting several, collecting on a budget, or for the person who also has a lot of larger art pieces.

Colleen GoldrichColleen Goldrich, in addition to managing Juneau's premier fine art and craft gallery, is an accomplished jewelry artist as well. Her handmade designs make heavy use of freshwater pearls and sterling silver, with other semiprecious stones and some gold as well. Colleen's designs are unique and sophisticated. These versatile necklaces, bracelets, and earrings pair well with formal wear and also as everyday jewelry! (psst - Mother's Day is around the corner and Colleen's jewelry is the perfect gift!)

Work from our three artists will be featured throughout the month of April. Join us for the opening on First Friday, April 6, from 4:30 to 7:00 pm for the unveiling of the collection and to have the best selection.

New Eric Bealer Prints

Eric BealerIn the new art category this month, new prints from Eric Bealer are bringing us joy. He's released three new images for the spring including Crossing, Step Over, and Waiting for an Echo. We have several of each print in the gallery, ready to be added to your collection! Eric's sprints are small, affordable, and come complete with custom matting, ready to pop into a standard sized picture frame.

Eric BealerEric's prints are block prints, created on an antique printing press. He meticulously hand-carved the image in the negative in a block of wood, and then runs each print through his press once done, in the traditional way. These smaller prints are fun to collect and can be displayed in a niche space, or they are also fun to group together and display in a series in larger spaces.

See all of Eric's prints (including these new releases!) in the gallery, or at www.anniekaills.com.

What's New at Annie's This Month

Spring is here! People are starting to think about summer weddings, Folk Festival is around the corner, and the first cruise ship shows up at the end of the month! Hopefully the construction on our street gets finished too! (Don't worry, we're open regardless!) There's going to be a lot going on this month - and we'll be ready with fresh stock!

Here are a few examples new arrivals around the store:

Estrella This is the month to get your Mother's Day shopping out of the way, and we have lots of beautiful jewelry to help! Check out these gorgeous designs in sterling silver from George Estrella. Also new arrivals from Kristin Ford!

Treat yourself with some new bath and body merch from Mixture! They have the usual soaps and lotions, plus bath bombs that are to die for and really popular! We also love their infusers, both for giving your space a nice scent, and also as modern-looking display pieces as shown here. .

Polish Pottery The Polish Pottery is back! After a hiatus, we're pleased to announce a huge order of this popular stoneware has arrived! This pottery is hand crafted by artisans in Poland and embellished with traditional hand-painted designs. Stop by for the best selection!

Marissa Amor

Finally, we have work from a new artist on display. Check out these fun prints and cards from Marissa Amor. Featuring Alaska wildlife themes, many prints are also hand-embellished, for example the salmon in the puffin print are embellished with silver shimmer. All of Marissa's work is painted, printed, and sold 100% locally here in Juneau!

We hope you can stop by and see all these great finds in person this month... and remember, there's always something new at Annie's! Also, get the latest updates during the month by following us on Facebook and Instagram!
