A Gift in Hand...
December 17-24, 2017

...is worth Two on the Way! During the last week of holiday shopping, we're emphasizing locally available gifts.

Gallery Walk with Rick Clair & Jenna O'Fontanella

It's that time again - Gallery Walk time! This is our biggest event of the year held the First Friday of December. In addition to hosting the regular art walk, all the shops of Downtown Juneau pull out all the stops to kick off the holiday shopping season. Expect guest artists, deals, goodies, and fun throughout downtown. This is also one of Juneau's signature events and just a fun time to shop and socialize.

Rick ClairThis year we're featuring two guest artists for Gallery Walk, who will also be our December featured artists. We start with a local painter, Rick Clair. Rick's show will be consistent in its inconsistency insofar as having a common theme or thread that unites the images - this is all about variety and exploring a number of different ideas. Landscape, pseudo-abstract and figurative elements comprise the paintings. The results are works of imagination, e.g., responses to current events or ideas gleaned from local and foreign destinations. In addition to new original paintings, Rick will have a selection of prints to choose from as well.

Jenna O'FontanellaJoining Rick is jewelry artist, Jenna O'Fontanella. Jenna's jewelry is one-of-a-kind and each creation has it's own unique story. Her most recent pieces incorporate sterling silver, steel, copper, brass, gold, wire, gems, beads and found objects. From the samples we've seen, Jenna has been doing a lot of metal work recently. Enjoy first pick from her new collection at Gallery Walk!

Karen BeasonDuring Gallery Walk, we'll also be showcasing an expanded collection of work from Karen Beason. Karen has been one of our regular Gallery Walk exhibitors for the past decade and a half, but isn't able to join us in person this year. But, she's been hard at work and has a collection of paper mache and fabric fish ready to go. Plus her block prints, ravens, and more. These are fun and funky decorative pieces - perfect for decorating or gifting!

Our December artists will be featured throughout the month of December. Join us for the opening on Gallery Walk on First Friday, December 1, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm (come early to beat the rush). Or if it's just too busy on Gallery Walk stop by on Saturday the 2nd for a more relaxed viewing.

For more information about the artists and and examples of their work, visit www.anniekaills.com.

New Art Arrivals

We're honored to have been again voted Juneau's #1 art gallery in the Juneau Empire readers poll. And we're doing everything we can to live up to the hype by showcasing the very best of artwork locally and from around Alaska and the Northwest. In addition to Rick Clair's new originals and prints, here are a few more recent arrivals:

Barbara LavalleeAlaskan artist Barbara Lavallee was our featured artist last months, and she left behind two gorgeous new original paintings. In addition, just in time for the holidays, Barbara released two new prints: "Field Trip" and "Sewing Circle." "Field Trip" continues Barbara's tradition of stylized paintings of Alaskans in everyday scenes, while "Sewing Circle" is her latest quilting-themed print.

Evon ZerbetzEvon Zerbetz released two new prints as well. These are both in her linocut style, in which the images are printed in black and white one print at a time, and then some are individually hand-colored by the artist. "Dance Class" is a cute black-and-white showing a well-dressed couple sharing a dance - inspired by Evon's side-hobby of teaching dance. Meanwhile, "Wake up and Smell the Cactus" is a fun full-color print combining our raven with an armadillo and desert plants and sun - the perfect antidote to winter.

Evon ZerbetzFinally, watch for some new work from marine artist Brenda Schwartz in the very near future - we're expecting a selection of new original paintings this week. Brenda's originals are priced to sell and make great gifts for the the holidays so we don't expect these to last long! We'll post on Facebook when these arrive!

See much more work by each of these artists on our website now at www.anniekaills.com.
