Sarah Strickling's Jewelry for First Friday

Jewelry by Sarah StricklingMarch's First Friday event features a brand new jewelry artist for Annie Kaill's, Sarah Strickling. Sarah is Juneauite who makes a line of pendants, earrings, bracelets, rings and more. Her jewelry features pearls and stones combined with tarnish-free sterling silver. The silver, called argentium silver, contains an alloy that is superior to normal sterling, imparting special properties. Namely, argentium is almost tarnish proof and more freely lends itself to creating jewelry.

Jewelry by Sarah StricklingSarah has perfected the art of working with this special silver. We love the pendants where she has wrapped a long string of silver around a special stone, and we also love the silver-only earrings that are expertly crafted into whimsical forms. Sarah also specializes in the healing powers of certain stones and has incorporated these elements into her work.

Jewelry by Sarah StricklingCome meet Sarah and see her collection of jewelry working with the special tarnish-free silver! The First Friday event takes place on March 5 beginning at 4:30 pm.

Lots of Neat Flambeaux Pottery

Pottery by Flambeaux PotteryWe just received our spring order of Flambeaux pottery so we have a great selection available in store. At the same time, we decided to update our online catalog... the pottery is incredible! What's even better is that for the second year in a row Flambeaux chose not to raise any prices, and we will follow suit with no increase in Flambeaux prices this year.

Pottery by Flambeaux PotteryFlambeaux - it's a French term for "from the flame." And the description is quite correct. Potters Bill Campbell and Kent Follette, who team up on this superior pottery, have developed a glaze that does some extraordinary things when exposed to the flame of the kiln. Tiny crystals in the glaze are the key, which explode into enchanting designs under the stress of the flame. Add to this layers of beautiful color: shades of sky blue, ocean foam green, earthy browns and cloudy white, and each piece of Flambeaux pottery is a treasure. Not to mention that due to the properties of the crystals and glazes, each piece is truly a one-of-a-kind original piece of art.

Pottery by Flambeaux PotteryFlambeaux started out with a collection of platters and vases, which are among the best pieces to show off the glaze the potters employ. Also offered in the collection are a variety of serving pieces, lamps, and even dinnerware. The brightness and luster of a new piece of Flambeaux might just be the perfect way to welcome in Spring!
