November at Annie's: Four Featured Artists

Annie Kaill's has another big month in store, again with four guest artists. This month, we're having our "Fabulous Finds for You and Your Home" show.

Barbara LavalleeOur headline artist this month is the one and only Barbara Lavallee. Barbara is one of Alaska's best-known artists and illustrators, known for her stylized depictions of Alaskans in everyday activities. Her work is fun, uplifting, and distinctly Alaskan. This month, we'll be featuring Barbara's prints, originals, illustrated books, and calendars. Join us at the First Friday show opening for personalized prints, calendars, and books ~ these make great holiday gifts!

Alice TersteegJoining Barbara in the art department, will be the former head of the art department (at the University that is), Juneau's own Alice Tersteeg. Alice is talented and well-known local artist whose recent work has been primarily in watercolor. We'll be featuring her latest collection of original work with spans a variety of subject matter, including ravens, native artifacts, and everyday objects.

Willow WhittonOn the comfy side, we have Willow Whitton. Willow is a local artist who makes a variety of knitted items, including scarves, hats, shawls, etc. She uses the highest quality yarns with a great attention to detail and her wares are both beautiful and comfy! We'll have an expanded selection of her work so that you can pick out that new hat or scarf for the winter season.

Heather NashelleOur fourth featured artist is Heather Nashelle. Originally from Juneau, Heather has turned her jewelry business, Nashelle Designs, into a trendy, nationally recognized brand, and she's regularly featured in the top style magazines and shops. But Juneau is still "home" and she loves to return and show her work. We'll have her latest work on hand including of course the ever-popular Identity charm necklaces and Alaska state charms / pendants.

Our "Fabulous Finds" show will be on display throughout the month of November. Join us for a Fabulous First Friday opening reception and meet the artists on First Friday, November 3, beginning at 4:30 pm. For more information about the artists and and examples of their work, visit www.anniekaills.com.

Recent Web Updates

A few updates to the website this past month worth noting. We've added content for Linda Chase, Puanani Maunu, and Mandy Heck. Read on to learn more!

Linda ChaseLinda Chase is a Southeast Alaskan glass artist we've brought in this fall. She creates display-size pieces by melting incremental layers of glass to create a piece of art, in much the same way that a painter uses layers of paint. Her pieces feature landscapes and wildlife, and we have several in the gallery now. Linda's new webpage has some information about her and her process, as well as several examples of her work.

Puanani MaunuPuanani Maunu was one of our featured artists last month. Puanani's works are landscape paintings; original oils on canvas. We have eight of her original paintings remaining in the gallery, with scenery from Thane, the Shrine, and other recognizable spots around Juneau.

Mandy HeckMandy Heck is a local artist who makes miniature original artworks, mostly using pencil. These originals, which feature local wildlife, are incredibly detailed and lifelike. We have a couple dozen of Mandy's originals in the gallery now to choose from, and we've posted some highlights online. Her work is so fun ~ beautiful and collectable little pieces of art ~ and priced right too.

See much more work by each of these artists on our website now at www.anniekaills.com.

What's New at Annie Kaill's

Fall is definitely here in Juneau, the snow is creeping down the mountains, the sunlight is decreasing and we're thinking about nesting for winter. What better time to add something new to the home? We're also looking ahead to the holiday shopping season, which kicks off at the end of this month!

Here are a few highlights of recent additions:

Roost The theme of nesting and sprucing up the home is evident with many of our new arrivals. We love these fine glass salt and pepper shakers from Roost. In a variety of unique designs, these are beautiful display pieces, or use them to up-scale your table setting.

Ron & Loren

We also love this new line of wine-theme furnishings from Ron & Loren in Seattle. These are wine bottle holders and display pieces, all handmade from reused / up-cycled wine barrels. They have a variety of wall-hanging and free standing pieces to display your wine collection and glassware.

Barrick Designs A new assortment of handmade candles from several artists and studios awaits in the back of the store. Check out these lovely candles from Barrick Designs, plus we also have a selection from Big Dipper Wax Works. High-quality candles are perfect for mood lighting, relaxation, or just displaying on their own.

Mixture

Relax as well with a selection of bath and body items from Mixture. Lotions, soaps, candles, and more, these are perfect to stoke that need for comfort at the end of a long day. And looking ahead to next month, these make great gifts too! We even have some fun fall-theme scents such as pumpkin spice and apple crisp!

Sharon Schaffner In terms of jewelry, well you know we always have something new in that department. We're pleased to offer these incredible handmade designs from Sharon Schaffner of Colorado. These combine whimsical faces in metal with precious and semi-precious stones for a unique and sophisticated piece. Lots of new arrivals from other jewelry artists as well!
Natasha PristasFinally, we have some new art on display as well. In addition to our featured artists for this month, we have new originals from Constance Baltuck, Barbara Craver, and Natasha Pristas. Also we have a collection of prints and cards from Natasha ~ fun, colorful, perfect for this time of year!

These are just a sampling ~ there's so much more that we don't have room for here! We hope you can stop by and see all these great finds in person this month... and remember, there's always something new at Annie's! Also, get the latest updates during the month by following us on Facebook and Instagram!
