November Artists: Lavallee, Tersteeg, Hopkins

For November 2019, we are welcoming three amazing artists! Enjoy new art from Barbara Lavallee and Alice Tersteeg, plus jewelry from Jim Hopkins!

Barbara LavalleeWe are excited to welcome back iconic artist Barbara Lavallee this month. Lavallee's work is beloved for her uplifting images featuring stylized depictions of Alaskans in everyday scenes. Her style is one-of-a-kind and has lent itself to numerous prints over the years and children's books as well: the iconic "Mama Do You Love Me?" and many more. We'll have a full selection of Barbara's prints, as well as new original paintings. Plus her 2020 calendar, books, and cards. Free personalizations at the First Friday event make great gifts!

Alice TersteegAlice Tersteeg is a Juneau artist who works in many mediums from watercolor to pastel to chalk. An established local artist and retired art teacher from the University of Alaska, Alice enjoys focusing on a couple different subjects and mediums each year. See her latest original paintings and drawings in November, including watercolors of flowers and acrylic landscapes.

Jim HopkinsFinally, we will be featuring new work from Jim Hopkins. Hopkins is a local jewelry artist working with fossilized ivory. His ivory jewelry uses ethically sourced fossilized walrus tusks from Saint Lawrence Island in Alaska, as well as fossilized mammoth ivory from Alaska. Each piece is hand-crafted to highlight the unique aspects of the particular ivory selection. Jim offers a range of work including small earrings all the way up to large pendants.

Work from our three featured artists will be displayed throughout the month of November. Meet the artists and enjoy first choice of the collections during First Friday on November 1, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Could we ask you a favor? As a friend of Annie Kaill's would you please consider voting for us in the art and jewelry shopping categories in this year's survey? We'd also love a mention in gifts and overall categories.

Vote for one category or vote for all! The survey is open through November 1st.
