| First Friday - Paper Artist Karen Beason |
September's First Friday art walk takes place Friday, September 3 from 4:30 to 7:00 pm. Karen Beason will be our guest artist for the event. Karen is a Juneau-based paper artist known mostly for her wonderful block prints on handmade paper. Karen also creates colorful paper mache fish, meaningful peace ravens, whimsical hanging fabric fish, and mixed media artworks.
Many of our customers will recognize Karen's block prints. These popular, affordable artworks feature Karen's original linoleum block carvings of Southeast Alaska creatures such as bears, whales, and otters. Plus some more exotic animals like giraffes and penguins (well, lets be honest, we do meet a few people each year who think penguins are native to Alaska)! The block prints are made on Karen's own handmade paper utilizing local materials like seaweed and fireweed.
We are really excited about Karen's newest creations: her mixed media artwork. As the name suggests, these include a mix of media types including handmade papers, fabric, watercolor painting, and found materials like shells and buttons. The art is framed and ready for your wall. Karen will have several of these one-of-a-kind originals available for the First Friday show.
Come see all of Karen's artwork on Friday, September 3 beginning at 4:30 pm. Also don't forget to sign up for our weekly drawing for the $35 gift certificate in honor of our 35th anniversary this year. Stop in to Annie's each week for the rest of the year to see what's new, and enter to win!

| Hanni Liliedahl, our newest jewelry artist |
Our newest jewelry artist at Annie Kaills is the one and only Hanni Liliedahl. Hanni grew up in Juneau and after graduating from high school she set out to explore the world including such places as Manhattan, South Africa, Japan, and Guyana - including a tour of duty in the Peace Corps. During high school and then periodically since, Hanni was also one of our favorite sales girls here at Annie Kaills. Many customers will remember Hanni's friendly demeanor and worldly, refined sense of style.
Hanni recently started channeling her creative energy into jewelry and the result has been fantastic. Out of our first box of jewelry received a week ago, we only have three pieces left. Of course we will have another pick box on the way shortly! What's the secret? Well, Hanni has a great eye for style and she is totally up to date on the latest trends. Plus she uses all the highest quality materials and her prices are very reasonable.
Learn more about Hanni, her Lilify jewelry line, and see some examples of her work at www.anniekaills.com.

Good thing we have a couple of them left to buy! The remaining Pia Reilly original watercolors and pastels have been added to our website for your browsing enjoyment. Check em out!
