Upcoming Events at Annie Kaill's
Susie Griffin with Jeron Griffin - February First Friday - February 6, 2015
"There's no such thing as bad weather"
Our February guest artist is Susie Griffin, of Juneau. Susie is a multimedia artist, specializing in acrylic paintings and large installation displays. Her acrylic paintings feature a variety of whimsical images. Meet Susie and see her latest original artwork and prints at the February First Friday event.
In honor of Annie Kaill's 40th anniversary this year, Susie will be showing her multimedia Juneau inspired series “There's No Such Thing As Bad Weather” as well as various pieces created throughout the last year. Not able to stick with one media when describing this most beautiful place on earth, Susie created her Juneau series to represent the multifaceted artistic layers found uniquely here in Juneau. Wood and canvas acrylic and multimedia artwork, a nearly 9 foot tall installation display inspired by glacial receding, local photography, and groundbreaking photographic embroidery fiber art are just the start of this epic show to kick off the year-long celebration of Annie Kaill's 40th anniversary.
But that's not all! Annie Kaill's has always been the first to bring you the newest up-and-coming artists! It took us a year to convince him to be part of a show, but we are proud to have Jeron Griffin, age 11, showing along with his mom (Susie Griffin) at February's First Friday gallery exhibition. Jeron is a straight A student by day and a sometimes-artist by night. This will be Jeron's first (non-school-related) public display of his painting titled “Snow Leopard”, created when he was 9 years old.
