Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois Leah developed a strong artistic sense and began creative exploration at an early age. Kai Bai Bo (rock paper scissors) was a game Leah played while attending a Korean day care center. This expression is relevant to Leah's jewelry as it reflects her inherent ability to create with whatever materials are at hand. Her parents said that, “if you give Leah enough paper and tape she will build a house.”
While living in Alaska for 12 years, her artistic vision evolved. The wild beauty of Alaska inspires her original handmade designs. This influence and Leah’s versatility as an artist are apparent in her affinity with natural materials such as coral, fossilized ivory, bone, porcupine quills, and semi-precious gems. In addition to her use of natural materials, Leah’s puzzle like designs frequently incorporate Czech glass, vintage buttons and beads.
Leah and her husband, musician Frank Solivan, now live in Alexandria Virginia, where she continues to take inspiration from her daily life as she creates each and every piece of jewelry by hand.
Shown below are examples of Leah’s work. Please e-mail us to inquire about pricing or current availability of pieces.
