May First Friday: Colleen Goldrich & Pua Maunu

Earrings by Colleen GoldrichWe hope you will join us for the May First Friday event as we host two Juneau artists. Jeweler Colleen Goldrich and abstract landscape artist Pua Maunu will be our guests.

Colleen is a jewelry artist working out of her downtown Juneau studio. After years of showing her work at Annie Kaill's, Colleen last year decided to take her work to the next level, becoming a full-time artist.

Not only is Colleen making more jewelry, but the product itself is better than ever! The jewelry includes necklaces, pendants, bracelets and earrings in a wide array of materials including silver, gold, semiprecious and precious stones, and Colleen's signature medium: pearls. Round pearls, square pearls, big pearls and flat pearls; pearls in all colors of the rainbow mesh with the various materials and expert workmanship to create unique and timeless pieces of wearable jewelry artwork. Colleen will be unveiling her summer collection of her newest work at the First Friday event.

Artwork by Pua MaunuAlso at First Friday we will be introducing Pua Maunu, the latest up-and-coming Juneau artist to be featured at Annie Kaill's. Pua is a landscape artist, painting scenes from around our beautiful Southeast Alaska home. She brings with her a background in abstract artwork, ultimately blending the two styles in her own special style called abstract landscapes.

Please join us for the May First Friday event! Pua's art will be on the walls, Colleen's work will be in the jewelry cases, and both artists will be available to discuss their creations. And, we will have some yummy munchies for your enjoyment! The event will take place from 4:30 to 8:00 on Friday, May 2.

Top Retailer Award Nomination

Top Retailer AwardsWe learned last month that Annie Kaill's has been nominated for the prestigious Top Retailer Award. Sponsored by NICHE magazine, the Top Retailer Award honors the nation’s best art and craft retailers, arts nonprofits, museums and guilds for growing and strengthening the American art and craft community. The Top Retailer Award program annually recognizes 24 retailers and gallery owners from around the country as Top Retailers.

While it would be great to win, even a nomination for this special award is reason to celebrate. At Annie Kaill's we have always strived to offer the very best in Alaskan and American artwork, pottery and jewelry. We also enjoy creating opportunities for talented up-and-coming artists to show their work in our gallery, and supporting the arts in other ways. We are proud to be part of Juneau's rich art and craft community and we are honored by the Top Retailer nomination. Thank you to all our friends and customers for your support & patronage!

Web Update: Bill Campbell Pottery

Vase by Bill CampbellOur latest updated web catalog is for the always popular Bill Campbell pottery. While the durability and usability of this pottery is among the best of handmade stoneware, Bill Campbell's signature glaze is what sets this pottery apart. Each piece begins with an expertly crafted porcelain stoneware form, which is then colored with a deep blue glaze. On top of this is added Bill's signature "Northern Lights" glaze which brings various white, blue and brown colors to the piece. Each piece of Bill Campbell pottery is a work of art and even the catalog is quite stunning. As a result, Campbell pottery is our best selling line of stoneware, a staple of wedding registries and kitchen tables for many Juneauites and visitors alike.

We offer a full catalog of Bill Campbell pottery. Recently, the catalog images have been improved and a number of new pieces have been released. In particular, Bill has been hard at work designing several new vases for the 2008 season. We hope you enjoy the new & improved catalog of Bill Campbell pottery!
