Constance has been painting and showing her work in Alaska since moving here in the early 1980’s. She's used watercolors, oils, pastels, and acrylics to paint mostly landscapes and botanical work, but also figure studies, portraits, and abstract work representing everything from cellular structures to her impression of the big bang!
Based on personal experience, observations, and interpretation, all her work combines representational imagery with varying degrees of abstraction. Constance's preference is to work directly from life, whether it is in portraiture, figure drawing, or nature studies.
She's spent the last few years focused on painting outdoors in Juneau, where she lives; it makes her appreciate our beautiful environment more than ever. Through her work, she hopes to share a sense of connection and appreciation of our place in nature here in Juneau.
